Ice Angels

The Opening

Pomegranates are delicious even healthy (so I have read). This beauty was ripe and juicy when I popped it open. I just had to paint it! Now it goes in my oatmeal and yogurt.

Marching to the Kitchen

These shiny, silver measuring tools are so interesting to paint. They really have no color of their own. The only thing that you can paint is the reflected colors and shadows. What a great challenge!

Yellow Bunch

The yellow roses survived for one last painting. For me, yellow is one of the most challenging colors to paint as shadows can get very muddy. This one worked!

Single Rose

The roses that I purchased are lasting longer that usual., probably because I am keeping them in my cold garage. Hopefully they will still be fresh for another painting tomorrow.

Tools

Winter is a good time to work on my kitchen skills.  I do like to cook but a recipe and measuring tools are a necessity. My husband is much better at putting together ingredients and coming up with a delicious meal.

Odd Couple

I saw these trees last fall. The contrast of color, size and texture was striking. Fortunately, I took a photo so I could paint this odd couple in my warm studio on a grey winter day.

Winter Fruit

These little devils do not give up their sweet seeds easily. I have finally gotten the hang of peeling a pomegranate.  They are definitely work effort!

Happy New Year!

OK, I know that I am a month late wishing everyone a Happy New Year. However, since I knew I could not paint for several weeks in January, I decided to take the month off.  The good news for me, the longer I stayed away from my studio, the more I wanted to paint! I am happy to report that I am back to painting almost everyday. Today is the start of MY new year.
This sunset represents the end of my first year on Daily Paintworks.  Painting almost every day has been the single best thing I have done to improve my painting skills.  Thank you Carol and David Marine!
