It is that time of year again. The flowers are blooming almost everywhere and I love it. Sunflowers are a happy painting subject and I just couldn't resist.

One of the really nice things about living in Florida is the variety of flowers. There is always something blooming. This Bird of Paradise has so many colors in just one bloom.

I decided to paint this pretty little rose bud, but when I was finished, it looked so boring. So I got out my pallet knife and started adding texture to this delicate flower. I like it a lot better.

I found a beautiful, big orchid at Whole Foods. The newest blooms and buds were so interesting, I had to paint them.

These flowers made a home on my dining room table. It wasn't until I turned on the overhead light that I saw a painting. I love the cast shadows on the table.

I am a big fan of fellow artist Diane Hoeptner's cat paintings. She has included some very interesting wallpaper/fabric backgrounds in several of her paintings. I decided to do a little experimenting with some sunflowers and wallpaper. I am happy with the result!
