Sunny 576

It is that time of year again. The flowers are blooming almost everywhere and I love it. Sunflowers are a happy painting subject and I just couldn't resist.

Different Kind of Bird 572

One of the really nice things about living in Florida is the variety of flowers. There is always something blooming. This Bird of Paradise has so many colors in just one bloom.

Rose Bud 570

I decided to paint this pretty little rose bud, but when I was finished, it looked so boring. So I got out my pallet knife and started adding texture to this delicate flower. I like it a lot better.

My New Orchid 554

I found a beautiful, big orchid at Whole Foods. The newest blooms and buds were so interesting, I had to paint them.

Look the Other Way 543

This is the last painting in my sunflower/wallpaper series. I do like how these paintings turned out. Wallpaper will definitely find it's way into more of my paintings.

Shy Sunflower 541

Having fun with a wallpaper pattern and sunflowers. One of my earlier paintings was an 11"x 14" with three sunflowers.

Lit From Above

These flowers made a home on my dining room table. It wasn't until I turned on the overhead light that I saw a painting. I love the cast shadows on the table.

Wall Flowers 540

I am a big fan of fellow artist Diane Hoeptner's cat paintings. She has included some very interesting wallpaper/fabric backgrounds in several of her paintings. I decided to do a little experimenting with some sunflowers and wallpaper. I am happy with the result!

Peach Blossum 523

It's a little early to think about fruit trees blooming but I ran across some photos that I took a few years ago and thought the idea of spring would brighten everyone's day.

Heads Up

Florida is full of beautiful flowers. One of my favorites is the Hibiscus. They are interesting from all angles.

My Favorite Side

This is the end of my current sunflower series. I saved the best for last. Back lighting shows this sunny face,

Sunny Side Up

When sunflowers are my subject, I like to paint them from all angles. This beauty is facing almost directly into the light. A very unusual positioning for me.

The Back Side - 491

I find that the back side of a flower can be very interesting and good subject matter for a painting. I hope you fine it interesting as well.
