A Rose is a Rose

These little darlings are difficult to paint! Some of the petals are in sun, others seem to glow from inside and still others are in shadow. Not to mention yellow. For me the most difficult color.

The bottom of this teacup says "SAJI - Occupied Japan -  FANCY CHINA".  I had never noticed this detail until now. Interesting.

This is another teacup from Mom's collection. The bottom of this one says "Tuscan Fine English Bone China Made in England" 19027. It is a beauty!

Mom's Teacup

Mom started collecting teacups during WWII while she was very young and working at the Naval Shipyard. Many items were rationed or unavailable during that time. I am thinking that teacups were a little luxury that she could buy with her small paycheck. The bottom says "Copelands Grosvenor China England and signed "A615" , numbered 1/8.

Kitchen Tools

These shiny measuring cups and spoon are challenging to paint. It is mostly reflections and highlights. This was a fun painting.

Yellow and Blue

One of my favorite color combinations, yellow and blue. Some how, by adding the glasses to this lemon reminds me of a not-so-good teacher "back in the day". Other than that memory, I like this painting :-)
